Youth Protection
Youth Protection in Scouting
The Boy Scouts of America places the greatest importance on creating the most secure enviromnet possible for its youth members. To maintain such an environment, the BSA has developed numerous procedural and leadership selection policies, and provides parents and leaders the tools to ensure a safe environment.
Youth Protection training is required for all BSA volunteers before they can be registered. At the time of recharter, all registered leaders must have Youth Protection Training that is current through the upcoming chartering period for the Council (Jan. 31 of the following year). If a volunteer’s Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be re-registered.
