Training Is IMPORTANT........... every youth deserves a trained leader!

So you want to be a Scouting Volunteer, or perhaps you just became a volunteer or even changed your volunteer role. Now what?

Adult Training

Youth Protection Training is required before interacting with any youth. This is available online and in person.

Position-Specific (Role-Based) Training provides the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in one's role. These trainings are available online and in person. Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skill (IOLS) is available in person only and is usually a full weekend course.

Supplemental Training includes a variety of courses that are designed to give additional information on targeted areas of the program through a combination of additional knowledge of Scouting in general, additional skills and roles knowledge, and/or beginning advanced leadership skills knowledge. This includes Trainer's EDGE, Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation( (BALOO), University of Scouting, and Roundtables. It also encompasses shooting, aquatic, and climbing trainings.

Advanced Training is for leaders desiring a deeper understanding of the program or seeking additional leadership development. These courses supplement the roles knowledge and skills learned in the other levels. This includes Wood Badge and Powder Horn. It also includes youth trainings such as National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), Kodiak Challenge and National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE).
