Service Projects - St. Johns River Base

I will be posting service projects for scouts, scouts units and school service hours. Not only will this count towards service hours, but I plan to make it a learning lesson for some practical skills.

I will be updating this list once a month.  If you or your unit has a project they want to improve camp please present it to me to get it approved.

Service Projects

  • Brush and vine control, this would be a conservation project. Cut vines growing in trees and plants. Cut vine at ground and off tree. Remove brush growing around base of trees in open areas
  • Clear and open creek channel
  • Clear fence along Doctor’s Lake Drive
  • We still have some brush piles of brush that need to be moved and burned
  • Cut any low hanging limbs in common areas
  • Cut and split wood
  • There is a lot of lumber debris in the wood line between the lake and camp sites - this is a hazard for campers
  • Rehab the fence at the amphitheater - we had some used fence donated
  • Need to relocate part of the nature trail
  • I have a bench that needs to be finished and set at wood badge fire ring
  • I have a small bridge to be built and installed
  • I have some painting projects

This list below are projects we will start after the first of year.

  • Replace the road posts along camp site road
  • Build new boat racks at water front
  • Build some picnic tables
  • We are going to rehab the chapel, new stage, steps, railing and new benches
