Patrols Beware

It has happened! A zombie-like outbreak has taken over the Five Rivers District of North Florida Council. Surviving members of Scouts, BSA are advised to seek immediate shelter in the Emergency Zombie Survival Area of Camp Shands. Bring your own gear and rations to survive the weekend. The only thing for certain in a Zombie Apocalypse is that nothing is for certain. Remember that the best chance for survival is to “Be Prepared”!

Patrols of Scouts (4-8 scouts) will participate in team competitions throughout the day on Saturday to prove they can survive in a zombie-infested world. Each Patrol will be given a survival log (scorecard) to track their fitness to join the “safe zone”. Patrols earn survival points by completing challenges, and collecting checkpoints, navigating quarantine zones, and working as a team. Survival logs will be collected prior to our evening Monster Mash event in the “safe zone” where we will celebrate the achievements of those who survived as well as hold a costume contest and Dutch oven dessert competition.

Every zombie survivalist knows that you have to sacrifice the few to save the many. Each participating Troop needs to sacrifice two adults (more would be appreciated) to help run our events.

The Scout Oath and Law will govern the behavior of all participants during this Camporee. The principles of Leave No Trace should be practiced all weekend.
