A Scout is Helpful!
North Florida Council Scouts and Adult Leaders answered the call “to help other people at all times”. Due to the outpouring of support and hard work from the North Florida Council community, I am pleased to announce that both Camp Shands and the St. Johns River Base are now operational. https://www.news4jax.com/positively-jax/boy-scouts-help-clean-up-after-irma

Thank you! Scouting volunteers and youth members are the greatest! We appreciate all of the assistance that has been provided.

Camp Shands
Baden Powell Road is now fixed and you may access the Camp from Highway 21. There is some cosmetic debris to clean up and if your Scouting Unit would like a weekend Service Project please call Ranger Robert at 904-704-8975 to offer assistance.

St. Johns River Base
The Camp is now operational. There are still some areas of the Camp that are off limits for use. When making reservations to use the Camp please consult with the Ranger on those areas that are off limits as they change frequently in light of ongoing recovery and clean-up efforts. Scouting Units are still needed for service to become 100% operational. Please schedule your service work days through Ranger Frank at 904-250-9981.

Helping Others!
North Florida Council Scouting Units are asked to support recovery efforts throughout Florida, Texas, US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Please visit www.scouting.org to indicate your willingness to help Scouting Units recover in severely affected areas. Also, local needs to include food drives and clean-up for those who cannot clean up their property is asked of Scouting Units.

Thanks to the Council’s Gilwell Society and Order of the Arrow Echockotee Lodge for their servant leadership to coordinate clean up and recovery efforts at both camps.

I look forward to updating you on continued recovery efforts by Scouting throughout North Florida and beyond. Thank you!

Jack L. Sears, Jr.| Scout Executive/CEO
