Campmaster Corps
The North Florida Council Campmaster Corps is a team of dedicated volunteers who help make weekends at our camps safe, welcoming, and fun for every visiting Scouting unit and family. Campmasters serve at Camp Shands and St. Johns River Base at Echockotee, providing friendly support, guidance, and a visible presence whenever the property is in use.
As a Campmaster, you’ll spend a weekend at camp—usually two to four times a year—checking in units, assisting leaders, offering program support, and helping ensure camp policies are followed. You’ll also be available to lend a hand to our Rangers, enhance the outdoor experience for visiting Scouts, and provide reassurance that camp is a safe, well-run place for everyone. Many Campmasters serve as individuals, while others volunteer as husband-and-wife teams, making the experience both meaningful and enjoyable.
Campmasters stay in a comfortable building with simple amenities like kitchens, private bathrooms, and beds, while dedicating their time to service and fellowship. To join, you should be an experienced registered Scouter with a love for the outdoors, solid knowledge of Scouting programs, and a willingness to share your skills with others.
If you’re looking for a rewarding way to give back, support Scouting families, and enjoy weekends at camp, consider becoming part of the Campmaster Corps. Training is provided, and we’re always looking for new members to join our team.
