It is with great pleasure that we announce the selection and return of Kelvin Williams as Chief Executive Officer of the North Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America, effective January 1st, 2023.
Kelvin was born and raised in Walterboro, SC and is the youngest of 5 children. His father (Jimmy) and mother (Catherine) worked hard to instill faith, family and hard work into him and his siblings.
He played football and baseball in high school, and earned a scholarship to play football at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA. From Georgia Military College, Kelvin earned a scholarship to play football for the University of Georgia in Athens, GA.
After graduating from the University of Georgia in 2000, he began his career with the Chattahoochee Council Boy Scouts of America in Columbus, GA in 2001.
After three years in Columbus, Kelvin received a promotion to come back to Athens and work for the Northeast Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America.
After three and a half years in Athens, he received a promotion to serve as a Field Director for the North Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America in Jacksonville, FL. Two years later Kelvin was promoted to COO in the same Council.
In the summer of 2014, Kelvin was selected to become the CEO for the Flint River Council, Boy Scouts of America headquartered in Griffin, GA. The Flint River Council covers 8 counties in South Metro Atlanta.
In the fall of 2018, Kelvin was selected as the Deputy Regional Director for the Southern Region of the Boy Scouts of America, serving 87 Boy Scout Councils in 13 States. And in February of 2020, he became interim Southern Region Director following the retirement of his longtime mentor, Ron Oats.
In the spring of 2020, after nearly 20 years with the Boy Scouts of America, Kelvin joined the PGA TOUR First Tee Foundation, Inc. as the Senior Vice President of Business Operations.
Kelvin is very active in his church and active with “The Georgia Way”; a University of Georgia program that helps mentor student-athletes on career paths. He enjoys motorcycles, bird hunting, sporting clays and most sports. His wife, Wynema, is also a University of Georgia Alum and works as a Healthcare IT Product Manager.
