IOLS Training
What Participants will Learn:
Instructors will help you learn how to set up camp, cook, and work with woods tools, about ropes, planning campfire programs, map reading and compass skills, hiking and packing techniques, nature identification, and outdoor ethics. Each outdoor session will bring to life the pages of the Scouts BSA handbooks to help you deliver the promise of Scouting to yourself and the youth you serve. It will increase your comfort level and give you confidence as a trained, skilled leader. The program will also give you the opportunity to work with other Scout leaders from your area, meet new friends, and reinforce skill techniques with fellow unit leaders and assistant unit leaders. This training is required for you to be a trained Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster and is strongly recommended for any registered adults camping with the Troop.
Prerequisites:
Youth Protection Training (YPT) needs to be completed prior to the course. To complete, log onto my.scouting.org and select the BSA Learn Center image on the right side of the home page.
Registration Cost: $25 –Registration covers all meals and materials. Registration closes January 22, 2021. Registration Closes January 22, 2021.
COVID -19: We will be practicing Safe distancing, wearing of masks when unable to safe distance. Participants must not share tents. Instead of Mess kits we will be using disposables. Some eliminates of the cooking experience will be modified to address COVID-19. As always this is subject to change as updates are made.
You must bring your BSA Medical form (Parts A & B only), a smile, and Scout spirit for a weekend to be remembered.
