Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS)
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

For a Cub Scout Pack to go camping on their own, at least one leader on the trip must be BALOO trained.  This course will help you understand outdoor programs in Cub Scouting, gain skills to plan and lead successful Cub Scout overnight activities, and learn more about available BSA resources.

IOLS is required for Scoutmasters, and Assistants to be considered fully trained. Highly recommended for Venturing Advisors and Associates. This hands-on course covers basic outdoor skills, including woods tools, ropes and lashings, first aid, nature identification, Leave No Trace, cooking, camp set-up, fire building, map and compass, hiking, flag ceremonies, and campfire programs. IOLS prepares you to teach all the outdoor requirements through First Class. Bring all your personal gear as described in the Scout Handbook (sleeping gear, eating gear, clothing, compass, etc) along with full Class ‘A’ uniform.

Please arrive between 5:30-6:30 pm to check in. Cost: $10 per person includes course materials. Wear your uniform and bring note-taking materials. No Food is included – the trainer will contact participants regarding food assignments.  Registration is limited to 25 participants.
