IOLS Training - St. Johns River Base - Great Muskogee District

What participants will Learn:
Instructors will help you learn how to set up camp, cook, and work with woods tools, and about ropes, planning campfire programs, map reading and compass skills, hiking and packing techniques, nature identification, and outdoor ethics. Each outdoor session will bring to life the pages of the Scouts BSA handbooks to help you deliver the promise of Scouting to yourself and the youth you serve. It will increase your comfort level and give you confidence as a trained, skilled leader. The program will also give you the opportunity to work with other Scout leaders from your area, meet new friends, and reinforce skill techniques with fellow unit leaders and assistant unit leaders. This training is required for you to be a trained Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster and is strongly recommended for any registered adults camping with the Troop.

Prerequisites:
Log onto my.scouting.org and select the BSA Learn Center image on the right side of the home page.  Please make sure to bring a copy of your completed youth protection training and weather hazards training or email it to me prior to this training event. Include your full name and unit type and unit number in the email.

Cost includes Friday night cracker barrel (light snack), Saturday breakfast, Saturday trail lunch, including coffee, water, and bug juice both days. Registration also covers program materials.

Optional: Stay an extra night and depart on Sunday morning the 15th for fellowship, campfire, and food. Spend time around the campfire eating great Dutch oven cooked food and share your experiences with fellow Scouters. This is not part of the training and is completely optional.

You must bring your BSA Medical form (Parts A & B only), a smile, and Scout spirit for a weekend to be remembered. See you then…
