Special Needs Camporee - Volunteers

Special Needs camp is an opportunity to earn volunteer hours and give back to the Jacksonville Area Community. Scout Troop/Crew Volunteers and Order of the Arrow, 14 years and older are invited to help by providing a youth-led carnival-type booth and prizes for the special needs participants to enjoy. 

Individual Adults and Order of the Arrow Chapter Volunteers are needed to help staff the event.

All Volunteers are expected to camp onsite at St Johns River Base at Echockotee.

  • All volunteers will participate in a Special Needs Awareness Training Session on Saturday morning.
  • Complete the registration form for all members attending the Camporee, including Youth and Adult Leaders. Please specify if you are an OA member on the registration form.
  • The expectation of volunteers and OA members is that they will arrive Friday evening and volunteer through the completion of camp cleanup on Sunday morning. Every volunteer who attends for any length of time must register and pay regular or late registration. There will be no reduced registration for volunteers who do not fulfill the expectation that you stay throughout the event. 



All Volunteers must proudly wear their ”Class A” Field uniform or LFL T-Shirt

  • Check in Friday after 4 pm
  • Sat Closing Campfire at dark, all hands
  • Check out Sunday after camp breakdown, patches will be given out after camp breakdown



Troop/Crew/OA Midway Booth Details:

  • Booth set up by 11 am and staffed until 5pm
  • Booths to be broken down and leave no trace by 5:30 pm, Saturday
  • Please supply approximately 400 prize pieces per booth

We request that you provide one booth and one adult for each 5-6 youth volunteers.
Facilities will not provide power or water. Your booth must be 100% self-sufficient.



Meals:

  • Friday Evening - Cracker Barrel in the Ashley Lodge
  • Saturday Breakfast in the Ashley Lodge
  • Saturday Lunch: Bagged lunches can be picked up from the Ashely starting at 11:30am
  • Saturday Dinner: Special Needs Participants will begin to be served at 4:30pm in the Ashley. All Volunteers please wait to enjoy dinner until after our guests have been served and midway is broken down
  • Sunday breakfast – Continental style (Danish and juice) with delivery to campsites starting at 7:30am
