Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS)

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: MUST for all NEW Scoutmasters and Assistants and experienced adult leaders who have not received any outdoor skills training. Recommended for Venturing Advisors and Associates and Webelos II Leaders who plan on crossing over to Boy Scouts in the next 3-6 months 

*This course is required for all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout Troops along with Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training and Youth Protection Training to be considered "trained".

WHAT WILL BE COVERED: A hands-on training to give adult leaders the practical skills necessary to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors.

HOW LONG: This is a 2-day course that starts on Friday evening and ends on Saturday evening

PREREQUISITE: The following trainings are recommended prior to attending this course:
Youth Protection, Hazardous WeatherThis is ScoutingFast Start Orientation and Position-Specifics course for your primary position. Most of these can be taken online in the E-Learning section at www.my.scouting.org
(*You will need your BSA Membership ID number to create an account and have the trainings credited to your records.)

REQUIREMENTS: Come prepared with the Boy Scout or Venturing Handbook, pen/pencil, paper or pad for taking notes, water bottle, coffee cup or mug, camp chair, clothing, and camping equipment.

Each participant MUST bring a current BSA Annual Health & Medical Form at check-in. (Only Parts A&B are needed - no doctor's appointment needed)

Fee includes all materials, Friday cracker barrel.
 **Meals will not be provided; participants will be divided into patrols & will determine food arrangements for the course.
