Camps

North Florida Council has two camps for Scouts to camp out and enjoy lots of exciting activities!

St Johns River Base at Echockotee located in Orange Park off of Doctor's Lake offers many water activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, wake boarding, tubing, motor boating, and much more. Plus the camp has a Climbing Tower, Archery Range, BB Gun Range, Swimming Pool, and many campsites and pavilions. There is also the Ashley Lodge with a kitchen, conference room, large main dining room, and a porch.

Camp Shands located in Hawthorne (Melrose) area offers many unique activities for Scouts such as rifles, shotguns, pistols, archery, BB Guns, Climbing/Rappelling, High & Low COPE Courses, XTreme Obstacle course, swimming, canoeing, and so much more. Along with campsites and craft pavilions, the camp also has enclosed pavilions, lodges, a conference room, and a large dining hall and full kitchen.

Both camps are open for individual and troop camping September through April.


North Florida Council also has two primitive camping areas:

Camp Davis - located within Camp Shands in Hawthorne, Florida

Camp Francis - located in Interlachen, Florida
